I would not pay one dime for this camera, because I can't figure out why it does this. I sometimes hit the button and it pauses for one to two seconds then takes the picture. I have used a lot of digital cameras, this one makes me want to throw it at a concrete wall. I have tried taking the exact same picture over and over with different settings with no results, and then it will randomly take it instantly when I hit the button.The Zoom is great, the pictures look nice but I can often not get the shot I wanted. I have missed entire shots. My kids running down the hall, I hit the button and the picture is an empty hall because they moved before it took the picture. I hit the button this morning and my little girl had looked away before it took the shot. Nice, what a piece of junk.Panasonic is off my list of quality forever for this $300 nightmare.
Any company should write several firmware updates for every model. This is my only grip with Panasonic camera products.
Then it dawned on me to look for a firmware update. I applied v1.2 update to the TZ5 and that made all the difference.
I was so disappointed with the picture quality of this camera during the first few months of use and I did not use it much at all. Panasonic needs to get with the program and get the firmware right in the first place.
Now I carry this camera with me everyday and use it all the time even though I have several DSLRs. Wow, I also missed a gem.
It is my understanding that they are not supporting many of their products with firmware updates (about one for the FZ30). Do they think that we are going to throw money at them every year or so just because they have poor support.
I had used this for my visits to LA, New york, Niagara. And the I really love this camera
Very easy camera to use, solidly built. Not a great camera but produces rich, but soft contrasting photos. Zoom lens is sensitive but have to work patiently with it. Downloads photos to computer very quickly without installing another worthless program. Flash is kind of weak and i have to recharge the battery often.I like to experiment but anything over ISO 400 & there's a noise factor, however,overall I am very pleased with this camera.
People love the blue color too.really stands out against all the silver models out there.It's great to buy something and not feel like you made a mistake. I took it with me on a 3 month trip to Ukraine, and love the shots it took, especially of the architecture.
I spotted this camera at Best Buy and fell in love with its wide angle lens, large crisp display, and powerful zoom. I hate feeling buyer's remorse and typically read through a lot of reviews before making purchases.
So I bought it, and have to add my own positive review. The other similarly priced cameras on display couldn't hold a match to it.
I came home and looked it up on Amazon, and was knocked over by how many people loved this camera. It was nice to get a whole building in the frame without having to back up extremely far.
Everyone that's tried my camera has been impressed with the quality and has asked me where I bought it.
